The United Nations education envoy, Gordon Brown, has appealed for $500 million to allow half of the two million Syrian children who are refugees in Lebanon, Turkey and Jordan to go to school. The aim is to get all two million refugee children in school in 2017. Brown said that unless action is taken to deliver educational opportunity, thousands of children will be vulnerable to child trafficking, radical extremism, child labor, and child marriage. The pressure is on to raise an additional $500 million to ensure that a million children who are refugee children are in school.
